Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort - The largest seafront pools on the island of Crete.
When arriving at Elounda, the first view from the hilltop is a panorama of the Bay of Mirabello, where the foreground is dominated by the Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort and the green expanse of its golf course. Designed with respect to architectural tradition, this unique resort is an oasis of recreation.
The sea view from the lobby is stunning and the “Kirki” bar below, with its delightful terraces, is the perfect starting point for any day. Breakfast and dinner are served at the ‘Nafsika’ restaurant’s sumptuous buffet.
A short walk down to the beach, through the golf course, is the Beach Bar, to the pool and always in a swinging mood with drinks and snacks throughout the day. Around the corner is "Playiada", a Greek village square covered by a robust wooden pergola and hosting a variety of boutiques, including a jeweller’s, fashion apparel, kids’ and beach wear, a souvenir shop and, the lovely Greek Orthodox Chapel of Prophet Elias.
Right there between the shopping arcade and the beach, tucked away under a shady olive grove, is the Italian restaurant “Aglio e Olio”, while a little further along the beach, at the little marina, is the “Odysseus” restaurant, right on the water’s edge, serving lunch in high season with a superb selection of fresh seafood and Greek specialities.
Both areas are a perfect a la carte option and are also available through the “dine-around” scheme from May to September, complemented by a weekly kaleidoscope of tastes and various themed evenings.

For 2019, the Kokotos family has collaborated with London-based designers WATG to produce a new pool concept that will undoubtedly amaze. The new main pool is the largest seafront pool on the island of Crete with its 420 square meters of gentle curves winding through the native trees, while including a hydro-massage area, loungers in the shallows, and wide steps for easy access.
Finished in silky-smooth pebble deck (TM), the pool is heated up to 27C if needed by a cooler season. A new children's pool of 80 square meters, also heated of course, is well separated from the main pool and features an ideal layout of shallow and safe waters.
Having received the “Blue Flag” award for the quality of the facilities and the services offered at the private sandy beach, all sunshades and loungers are placed on the grassy areas between beach and pool, allowing the sand as a free-for-all area to enjoy.
The Six Senses Spa™, recognized as the “World’s Best Spa” by the Sunday Times’ Travel Magazine, provides a truly relaxing and revitalizing experience, through many forms of holistic healings to balance the senses. Its unrivalled range of signature treatments focuses on health, beauty, pampering, stress reduction and recuperation using pure, natural and environmentally friendly products. The luxuriously appointed spa spreads over 2.200 m², setting unique standards in spa design. A hairdressing salon is also located in the spa. Naturally, for guests and their children who want to use an indoor bathing facility outside the Six Senses Spa, the resort offers “Thermais”, with a heated freshwater indoor swimming pool and a sauna.
For golfers, the Resort offers a private nine-hole par-3 golf course. Creatively designed with multiple tees, guests may choose to play the course as an 18-hole, as each hole has two playing options of varying difficulty. Additionally, the complex has practice nets and a 9-hole putting green. The PGA who runs the Golf Academy is multilingual and organizes
private tuition for golfers at all levels. The Pro shop sells and rents all necessary equipment.
The Aegean Conference Centre incorporates cutting-edge specifications incorporating years of experience in functional design and facilities.
Extending over 1500m2 of indoor space with the additional benefit of another 300m2 of covered outdoor verandas, it comprises five multi-purpose halls of various sizes, which can all be joined and separated as needed, while enjoying an incomparable view to the resort’s golf course and the sea.
The resort’s recreational facilities are complemented by two Astroturf® tennis courts (with tuition available on site), a 5x5 soccer field run by “Valencia Soccer School”, table tennis, a gym with a variety of fitness equipment, as well as a fantastic sea sports center. Supervised by experienced coaches, there are jet-skis and windsurfing, water-skiing, and sailing activities.
A luxury sailing boat is available for charter, with a range of excursions or tailor-made itineraries offered. The
PADI certified scuba diving center teaches and awards diplomas up to the highest levels of proficiency. The crystal clear waters and rock formations of the bay, home to fascinating flora and fauna, are considered amongst the finest to be found in Greece.
For parents seeking safe and fun activities for their children, Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort offers the “Kid’s Ark”. The crèche cares for children aged from 4 months to 3 years at a charge.
The Juniors Club is for children aged 4 years to 12 years and the Teens Club for teenagers. Set in a reserved area of the resort, behind the chapel and the shops, the Kid’s Ark area comprises numerous facilities for all children, from 4 on complimentary basis. It is safely separated into a variety of play areas and amusement corners. The Ball-games court is a special soft surface, with futsal goalposts and a basketball rim. Then comes the covered Tabletop play area, protected under an extensive wooden pergola, while to it a Water Park is located, comprising two shallow swimming pools with 3 water slides. Operated by professional childcare specialists, it allows children to be entertained and educated in a variety of activities.
